“AT THIS TIME WE WOULD LIKE TO PLAY AN TUNE,” ALAS…

Dance des imbeciles

…it is still in the making: DANCE OF THE IMBECILES.

Although the title suggests that it has something to do with Bud Powell’s DANCE OF THE INFIDELS (which is an altered blues), it’s only the similarity of words, not of music.

The tune will be a polytonal, kinda crazy piece, but in the common 32-bars song scheme.

I always wanted to undertake such kind of an unusually tough writing project since I’ve read in some liner notes to a Dave Brubeck album about the poly-chord he used/ found while improvising: G-major over E-flat major which sounds quite interesting.

Another thing will be the editing & posting of the complete The Way You Look Tonight  (linked with Doug Ramsey’s informative article) from Jazz At Oberlin … and filing a tax return for – Hold your hats! – 2011😉

So, please be patient, stay tuned nevertheless, and feel free to browse my blog for other goodies.

Swingingly yours truly,

Brew

P.S. — Here’s the abridged/ edited version of the fabulous track:
