AS FOR MARCH’s SEASONAL SOUND — HERE WE GO WITH THE GLENN MILLER ALUMNI ORCHESTRA & ST. LOUIS BLUES MARCH — 1953

St. Louis Blues … March (get it?) — The Glenn Miller Alumni Orchestra.

This famous version of the AAFB-head arrangement stems from the soundtrack mono LP (pictured) to “The Glenn Miller Story” (1953).

Since the movie is showing marching G.I.’s at this particular scene, the fabulous introduction wasn’t played by the trombones like in the original arrangement, but by the drums.

Great sounds for every season, right?
