SOMETHING HEARTWARMING FOR THE COLD FEBRUARY: HARRY JAMES & HIS MUSIC MAKERS – “MY BABY JUST CARES FOR ME” & MORE – ‘ROUND 1946

HarryJames_TheUncollected_Vol_1This is track #5 on side 2 of one of my favorite Harry James LP’s:

HARRY JAMES & HIS ORCHESTRA – THE UNCOLLECTED – VOL. 1 – 1943-46

The album contains not only greatly swingin’ instrumentals like the posted “My Baby Just Cares For Me”, or “Girl Of My Dreams” but also some of the warmest vocals by Helen Forrest (see the lovely P.S. below).

As you can hear: Harry was in top form here, effectively exploring the deeper register of his otherwise sparkling horn.

You should go for the complete album!

->>>—–> P.S. #1 — This is too good for hiding it in the comment section:

->>>—–> P.S. #2 — Since the best things come in threes, here’s another, but a jumpin’ one with Helen Forrest, and some brilliant trumpet-work by Harry & the other splendid buglers in the band:

Here comes P.S. #3 — My Austrian friend Karl allowed me to “steal” this from him (which I didn’t of course! — It’s from my own LP). It’s once again Harry James & His Music Makers from the LP HARRY JAMES & HIS ORCHESTRA – THE UNCOLLECTED – VOL. 1 – 1943-46, but I’ve slightly edited the pitch:

  1. Hein Ecken says:

The album also features “You Go To My Head” with the truly heartwarming voice of Helen. But this one ain’t bad either.

  2. Brew says:

You kindly asked for it, Heinie, so here it is:

  3. And that blonde isn’t Helen Forrest🙂
